• The Melrose Branch, located at 910 Morris Avenue in the South Bronx, was opened in 1914. The library, built with funds from Andrew Carnegie's 1901 grant to New York City, was designed by the architectural firm of Carrere and Hastings.

Materials include branch correspondence and memoranda, 1931-1979; Special Investigator memoranda, 1969-1979; circulation and book stock statistics, 1914-1938; and inventories, statistics, surveys, and publicity brochures. Also, branch annual reports, 1939-1986; reports, 1923-1979, from Adult Services, Young Adult Services and Children's Room; materials from the 25th, 50th and 75th anniversaries of the library; branch history, 1939; and poster, 1969.
