Summary
The September 13, 1956, afternoon session of the 31st Anniversary Meeting of the Brotherhood of Sleeping Car Porters, T. D. McNeal reads the report of the Committee on Resolutions and Constitution. M. P. Webster reads the report of the International Executive Board which highlights the reduction in passenger business and Pullman porters in addition to the need for an increase in dues and taxes. Also mentioned is the election of A. Philip Randolph as a vice-president to the AFL-CIO, and a monetary honorarium which was awarded to Rosina C. Tucker and Helena Wilson of the Ladies Auxiliary for their dedication. Reports from various conventions and updates on court cases the Brotherhood is involved in are given. A. Philip Randolph announces that elections of officers will begin for the succeeding triennial period. M. P. Webster nominates Chicago as the location for the next Brotherhood convention to be held in 1959. Ashley L. Totten reads the report of the Auditing Committee and the Committee on Resolutions and Constitution gives a special report regarding membership responsibilities, membership dues, the union shop agreement, furlough and the payment of taxes.
