Summary
At the 14th Annual Conference of the Provisional Committee for the Organization of Colored Locomotive Firemen, Brakemen and Switchmen (Washington, D.C., 1955), A. Philip Randolph talks about events that have taken place since the previous conference. He expresses the Provisional Committee's concern about the waining number of Negro firemen on the railroads and also the concern about automation displacing labor. Joseph Rauh, who is representing the Provisional Committee in a court case of breaking down the color bar to the Brotherhood of Colored Enginemen and Firemen talks about his involvement in his fight against discrimination on the railroad. Workers contribute comments and discuss incidents involving discrimination. M. P. Webster discusses issues involving firemen and the railroads and possible legal cases.
