  • Tintype portraits, arranged into several divisions, including men, men in groups, women, women in groups, children, children in groups, women and children, men and children, military, and families. Most sitters are unidentified and photographed in studios, sometimes with painted backdrops and/or props. Identified sitters are Steve Brodie, Brooklyn Bridge jumper, shown posed with statue of devil holding a camera; Julia C. R. Dorr, poet; J.S.H. Bartlett, M.D.; Clara Robins(?), "Aunt Sallie Meek", Anna L. Worth, Mollie A. Sloan, Anna S. Beach, Lucy Newell Beach, Sam Sloan, Jr., E. G. Lapham, N. Carpenter, Alice Lindsley, and W. Calhoun (?). In addition there are several images showing men acting out vignettes, men sitting in an early automobile; men in a horse and buggy, pictured near a park, women on a camel and other group shots made out of doors, including one identified as having been made at the Statue of Liberty. Other views include boys in colonial costume, and women with tennis racquets. Military views include soldiers, singly and in groups, and a drummer boy.
