Biography (note)
  • Hector graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 1952 with a Bachelor of Business Administration. He joined the Navy, and after Officers' Training School and Supply Corps School, he was given orders to disbursing duty in Naples in March 1953, returning to the U.S. in August of 1955.

Photographs of Italy: Naples: the photographer's Morris Minor car, street scenes including shops, advertising, including political posters, buses, hearses, wagons and street entertainment including puppet shows and musicians; parks sculpture and wood carvings; beaches; castles, churches, apartments and other buildings; a series on the Mostra d'Oltremare, and views at the National Museum. Pompeii: ruins and sculpture, Mt. Vesuvius, mountain climbing group, cable railway and funicular, the crater; Solfatara: steam, molten lava, steambath and seismic station.
Photographs of Italy: Rome: street scenes and views of Roman structures, ruins, sculpture, The Appian Way, views in Vatican City, and the Quirinal Palace. Caserta: Royal Palace of Charles III. Pozzuoli: harbor and amphitheater, including tunnels below it. Sorrento: coast and cliffs, balcony, orange grove, piazza. Monte Faito: cable cars, cottages used in treatment of tuberculosis, and an inn, showing balconies, trellises. Positano: beach, cliffs and terrace at pensione. Ravello: mountain, sea and pines, terrace at Villa Cimbrone, garden at Villa Rufolo. Salerno: railway crossing, railway bridge, harbor. Paestum: temple of various dieties.
Photographs of Europe and Asia Minor: Izmir, Turkey: navy plane used for inspection trip to Izmir, harbor, minarets and chapels, a bazaar, coffee house and a Turkish Coast Guard vessel. Athens: the Acropolis, Areopagus, Parthenon, the Erectheum, the Agora and general views of the city; includes details of friezes and caryatids. London: Big Ben, the houses of Parliament, #10 Downing Street; memorials and palaces, including changing of the guard at St. James and Whitehall; Tower of London including Beefeaters; Picadilly Circus.
Slides of Europe: Pisa: the leaning tower, the Baptistry and Cathedral. Milan: Cathedral, entrance to La Scala, park, restaurant and fountain. Venice: Piazza di S. Marco, the Basilica, palace of the Doges, Grand Canal and other canals, including gondolas, the Clock Tower, bridges, houses and a cafe. Rome: River Tiber, views in Vatican City, the Colosseum, Olympic Stadium, fountains. Paris: streets, churches, palaces, museums, sculpture, parks, gardens, markets and the Eiffel Tower. The palace and gardens at Fontainbleau. Fountains, statues and gardens, the Grand Trianon and Le Hameau at Versailles.
Slides of New York: The Cloisters and Ft. Tyron Park, harbor scenes including the Statue of Liberty, bridges, the skyline, Riverside Church, St. Patrick's, Rockefeller Center, and the sculpture garden at the Museum of Modern Art.
