Collection contains Hermann Vollmer's autograph collection, family correspondence, and facsimiles of French historical manuscripts. Autograph collection consists of manuscript letters, documents, musical scores, photographs, and other papers of European, British and American musicians, authors, artists, scientists, politicians, and others spanning the period from the 17th to the 20th century. Family correspondence, 1922-1959, includes Ruth Vollmer's correspondence with family and friends in Europe just prior to the outbreak of World War II. Some of the letters concern Ludwig Landshoff's efforts to obtain permission from the French government to reside in Paris in order to escape persecution as a Jew in his native Germany. Also, two volumes of facsimiles of French historical manuscripts.

- Biography
Ruth Vollmer (1900-1982) was a sculptor; Hermann Vollmer (1896-1959) was a pediatric physician. By the late 1930s they had emigrated from Germany to New York City. Ruth Vollmer was the daughter of the German conductor, musicologist and editor Ludwig Landshoff (1874-1941).
