- Frederick Samuel Dellenbaugh (1853-1935) was an explorer, artist and author. As a member of John Wesley Powell's expedition down the Colorado River in 1871-1873, he helped to prepare the first map of the Grand Canyon.

- Summary
Dellenbaugh's papers document the Colorado River expedition of 1871-1873, and his ongoing professional interest in the land formations and inhabitants of the American West. The collection consists of correspondence, a Powell expedition diary, manuscripts and drafts of his published and unpublished writings, research notes, some of his sketches and others by his friend Edward L. Henry, photographs, newspaper clippings, and printed matter. Also, material regarding his vacation community in Cragsmore, N.Y., and a few manuscripts of stories and essays written by his wife, Harriet Otis Dellenbaugh.

- Biography
Frederick Samuel Dellenbaugh (1853-1935) was an explorer, artist and author. As a member of John Wesley Powell's expedition down the Colorado River in 1871-1873, he helped to prepare the first map of the Grand Canyon. He was a co-founder and lifetime member of the Explorers Club, served on the board of directors for the Eastern Association on Indian Affairs, and was the American Geographical Society's librarian from 1909-1911.
