  1. Contains t.p. (on 2 successive leaves) and 40 "epiphanies" on 40 numbered pages, printed on 11 bifolia, and 4 sections of ill. respectively titled Death, Dreams, Games, and Planes. Each section of ill. has special t.p. (on loose sheet) with color-coded numbers of the respective epiphanies. One sheet containing colophon at end.
  2. The epiphanies are "poetic prose vignettes ... never [before] published together ... [They were] written between the ages of 18 and 21"--Vincent Fitz Gerald cat. raisonné, p. 23.
  3. Lettering on title pages and in colophon reproduced from calligraphy by Jerry Kelly.
  4. Illustrations: 4 sections of prints and mixed media works, employing etching, lithography, watercolor, collage and handcutting. Comprise 2 sections by Weil (Death and Planes) in 2 sewn gatherings, and 2 sections by Van Dyke (Dreams and Games) on both sides of 2 sheets folded accordion-style. First bifolium (t.p.) contains additional double-page collage of images from all 4 sections. Etching editioned by Van Dyke and lithography by Rhae Burden, both at the Printmaking Workshop; collage executed by Zahra Partovi. For discussion, cf.   5. Issued unbound, in brownish gray silk covered solander case with Joyce's profile outlined in silver on the front and initials JJ on spine, by David Bourbeau at the Thistle Bindery.
