  • Sora library stamp on p. 1 and press mark on front flyleaf; remaining traces of superexlibris suggest the Boncompagni arms with papal augmentation (cf. Twelve centuries of bookbinding / by Paul Needham. New York : Pierpont Morgan Library, c1979. no. 77). Binding perhaps executed for Giacomo Boncompagni (son of Pope Gregory XIII and Duke of Sora).

  • Contemporary Roman crimson morocco, gilt. Gilt borders of floral ornaments; panels on both boards filled with curved and interlaced fillets, interspersed with various ornaments: seated and running figures, a herm, an angel's head, a rampant lion, stars and roundels, etc., similar to a binding classed as "imitation romaine d'un reliure à la fanfare" by G.D. Hobson (cf. his Les reliures à la fanfare. 1970. plate XXVI). Rebacked, probably in the late 17th century. Superexlibris in central cartouches obliterated.
