  • Views of Dakota territory, (now North & South Dakota): a sod dugout in the Badlands; formations of petrified wood on indurated clay pillars, possibly in the badlands; sheep ranching in North Dakota; the sheriff of Billings Co.; men breaking sod at Grandin farm; a tractor pulling a double disc and three section tooth harrows; men with hunting trophies; Captain Fisk's 1866 expedition including a camp at White Bear Den, showing the wagons circled for the night, and Fort Berthold, showing a block house; views in the Black Hills, including a business block with a druggist and a hardware store; Deadwood City showing many men, the wooden buildings and tents of a "boom" town; view of a cabin in Deadwood Gulch; general view of Central City; views of a shack possibly at a mine in North Dakota; Grand Central Hotel at [Hafie], end of the line of the St. Paul, Minneapolis and Manitoba Railroad, Manitoba West Branch; Bismarck: a large public building, street scene with decorations welcoming Villard, one showing crowds in buggies & wagons arriving to greet Villard's train at the opening of the Northern Pacific; general view with man in the foreground wearing a buffalo skull as a headdress; buffalo skull on the prairie in foreground, Fort Lincoln on the horizon.
