- Views of the Indians of Minnesota and surrounding areas: includes view of a baby asleep in a small hammock; Chippewa (Objibwa) Indians: view of a young man and woman in traditonal dress entitled "Chippewa wedding"; woman (Wa po ste ku?) seated in front of a teepee; white men in front of wigwam, Chippewas in European dress seated in front of entrance; studio portraits of various Chippewas: Now we ke shick (Noon Day); "Bitter Man"; Wah bo jeeg (White Fisher), chief of the Gull Lake Band; Ke-bey-na-ke (The Winner), holding pipe and beaded bag; O-gee-tub (Heavy sitter), holding pipe; Chippewa camps showing wigwams, canoes, including view possibly showing canoe being built; Ojibwa family, wearing Euro-American dress, man has rifle, straw hat and peipe, child with iron skillet cooking over open fire; "Red River Indians and Half Breeds" (Métis), some identified as being from Pembina, 600 miles north of St. Paul, on trading trips to St. Paul with their two-wheeled ox-drawn carts, some views showing them on the prairies, one view showing cart on a city street.
- Sioux (Dakota) Indians: teepees of the Sioux, including view showing teepees near fenced garden or field, portrait of a woman named Wenona among a group of teepees; portrait of a child, Ma-za-oo-nie, (The Little Bird Hunter), in traditional clothes and head dress; Wa-kan-o-zhan-zhan (Medicine Bottle) and Little Six, both later executed in 1865 for taking part in a massacre in 1862 (photos made at Ft. Snelling?); Old Bets, woman "remembered with gratitude by many of the Minnesota captives for her kindness to them while among the Sioux in 1862"; man identified only as Sioux, outside teepee; Circular Cloud (?) outside teepee; studio portrait of two Winnebago women; two Winnebago men wrestling; Winneshiek, head chief of the Winnebago wearing bear claw necklace, headdress and holding bows and arrows, Winneshiek and others in wickiup at Ft. Snelling, 1863; view of a group of Indians with Europeans in the yard of "Col. Murphy's near Shakapee"; Indian camp on the Flambeau reservation [Wisconsin]; a view of a waterfall in the "Red pipe-stone quarry."
