• Consists of 24 sheets (14 folded) of various sizes of paper handmade by Steve Reeves and Tom Strianese in the Tyler Graphics mill. Ten sheets are single-size (39 x 39 cm.), 7 are double-size (39 x 66 cm.) and 7 are triple-size (39 x 96 cm.).
• Typographic design by Antony Drobinski and Roberta Savage and printed from lithographic plates in black (Spanish text) and gray (English text) by Emsworth Studios, New York.
• Preface by Jack Flam; English translation of the poem, with title Motherwell's black, by Vicente Lleó Cañal.
• Illustrations: 21 prints from 44 aluminum plates : lithograph, b&w (8), col. (13); full-page (8), double-page (6), triple-page (7). Printed by Kenneth Tyler, Lee Funderburg and Roger Campbell of Tyler Graphics. Three are printed chine appliqué (2 on handmade buff Kitakata paper, 1 on handmade red Moriki paper). Nineteen prints include images; double-page print on p. [1], repeated on p. [47], is half-title (in Motherwell's hand): El Negro Motherwell / Rafael Alberti. All plates were cancelled after printing.
• Issued with sheets attached in a natural buckram covered case by Waldon/Lang, New York. "The binding device, which holds the pages together as a book, has a detachable bar that permits the pages to be removed for exhibition purposes"--Belknap.
