In cases [1-2], the 2 "Facsimile" cases, the 53 gatherings are stitched and inserted in 6 portfolios; each case is accompanied by booklet with t.p. and other preliminaries, and has table of contents mounted inside cover. In cases [3-4], the 2 "Translations" cases, there are 34 fascicles, bound in paper covers and inserted in 6 portfolios, each fascicle containing the translation of a single county complete; each case is accompanied by booklet with t.p. and "Notes to the translations," and has concordance to corresponding facsimile case mounted inside cover.
  • The facsimile is a full-color actual-size reproduction made by continuous-tone offset lithography from the disbound original.
  • Translations edited from the Victoria history of the counties of England, except Cornwall (Ordnance Survey facsim. of Domesday book, 1875), Devonshire (Caroline Thorn, commissioned for this ed.), and Lincolnshire (Lincoln Record Society, 1924).
  • Case [5], "Maps," contains 29 folded col. maps, with concordance to indices on inserted table.
  • Case [6], "Indices," contains booklet "An index of the modern names of places in Great Domesday book" (viii, 60 p.) with t.p. and other preliminaries, and 30 fascicles for counties (numbered II-XXXII/XXXIII), each being "an offprint taken from the [respective] volume of the County edition of Great Domesday book"--P. [1] of covers of each county fascicle. Concordance to maps mounted inside cover.
