- Summary
- The papers and scores in the collection represent the observations and activities of Edith Evans Braun in the American musical scene from 1916 to 1962. The collection consists of Braun's diary of her 1916 tour with contralto Ernestine Schumann-Heink; her memoirs of frequent interactions with composers Gian Carlo Menotti, Samuel Barber, and Deems Taylor; correspondence from Barber, Menotti, Taylor, Josef Hofmann, Efrem Zimbalist, and Lee Hoiby: also three letters from Braun to her mother. There are four manuscript music sketches of works by Taylor and Barber, and a number of signed and dedicated published scores by the same composers.
