Summary
Posters manufactured between 1947 and 1991. Posters represent announcements and advertisements pertaining to social and educational functions at the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture, The New York Public Library. Posters include art and photography exhibitions, fund raisers, concerts, writers workshops, and historical commemorative events. Also commissioned posters by noted African American artist, Jacob Lawrence, Romare Bearden and James Denmark for the silver, golden and 1980 grand opening of the new Schomburg Center building.
