- The Schomburg Center's Manuscripts, Archives & Rare Book Division's copy includes NYPL's bookplate of Reference Collection of Negro Literature, as well as various ink stamps of: "Division of Negro Literature and History" Property of the City of New York" and "The New York Public Library: Circulation Department, 135 Street Branch, 103 West 135th St." which indicate that this item is originally part of parts of the Circulation Department; added or transferred to the Schomburg collection during Catherine A. Latimer & Arthur A. Schomburg's times as collection librarian & curator. It also features early processing marking of the original collection and NYPL's perforated stamp or seal. It's a gift, bound with the original publisher's navy-blue cloth binding, with a blind stamp impression or decoration on the cover, and gilt gold lettering & decorative spine. G.K. Hall's entry for this item includes a cataloging date of "April 12, 1937," which indicates that this item may have been cataloged or re-cataloged during Arthur A. Schomburg's tenure as curator.
