Summary

1. Depictions of actor Canada Lee, consisting of individual portraits, many of which are studio portraits probably used for publicity purposes; in a group portrait with his family; publicity photographs from the theatrical productions "Macbeth" (1936) and "Anna Lacasta" (1944); and candid shots and views from radio broadcasts, interviews, social gatherings, publicity events, dressing room visits from friends, and labor activities. Among the individuals depicted with Lee include Hattie McDaniel, Langston Hughes, Owen Dodson, Frederick O'Neal, Hilda Simms, Eleanor Roosevelt, Winnie Johnson, Claude Rains, Daniel Haynes, Raymond Massey, William O'Dwyer, Alfred Hitchcock, Louis Jordan, and Lee's father James Canegata. Full, half and quarter length portraits are included.
