April Berry describes her training and career in dance and the contributions Katherine Dunham made to the world of dance. Family history and childhood; beginning of dance education; primary and secondary education; first auditions and performances; study with the Dance Theatre of Harlem; studying and auditioning with the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater; working with Ailey and company; experience working with Katherine Dunham during Ailey company's performance of the Magic of Katherine Dunham in 1978; importance of learning the Dunham Technique; experience working with former Dunham dancers; some advice to young people interested in dance.
