Traces the history of Beale Street, Memphis, utilizing still photographs, drawings, archival footage, performances and interviews with residents. Includes the roles played by prominent residents Robert R. Church Sr., the boss of Beale Street, social worker and educator, Julie B. Hooks, the boss of Tennessee politics Edward Hill Crump, Robert R. Church Jr., and Republican party leader Lt. George W. Lee. Also contains performances of blues singers including Lillian Glover, Little Laura Dukes and Ironing Board Sam.
