Challenging career opportunities await you at The New York Public Library, both directly related to and outside of library service. Positions in the Branch Libraries include public service, programming, outreach, and literacy work. The Research Libraries offer opportunities in specialized research and reference work, bibliographic instruction, and classroom presentation. Applicants who accept an offer for a position with The New York Public Library are required to undergo a background check and drug screen. Information collected from the background checks are based on the nature of the position and may include some or all of the following: education verification, employment verification, criminal check, Denied Restricted Parties Lists or OFAC lists, fingerprint verification and Department of Motor Vehicle check. Candidates will be notified during the hiring proces which checks will be performed. All offers are contingent upon successful completion of the background check and drug screen and results consistent with The New York Public Library's employment policies.
