GENERAL REGULATIONS AND INFORMATION

Please take a few moments to review these regulations so that your time at SIBL will be more productive and pleasant.

Hours of Service

Customers should be prepared to leave the building by posted closing time. Photocopy machines, computer workstations and restrooms shut down 10 minutes before closing. The last request for materials from the closed stacks must be made 45 minutes before closing.

General Regulations

Customers of SIBL must respect the rights of others.

Talking is permitted in quiet, low tones that do not disturb others.

The consumption of food and beverages within SIBL is prohibited.

Proper conduct is required. Customers may NOT:

  • Create a public disturbance
  • Use alcohol or drugs
  • Use cellular phones
  • Use abusive or obscene language
  • Loiter or sleep
  • Play personal radios, cassette players or CD players

Proper attire is required. Customers must wear shirts and shoes and are expected to maintain acceptable levels of personal hygiene.

Persons entering the Library are required to comply with SIBL's checkroom policy.

Only animals assisting differently abled persons are allowed in SIBL.

Marking, mutilating, defacing or otherwise damaging SIBL materials and equipment is an offense under Section 264 of the New York State Education Law and Section 145.00 Criminal Mischief, New York State Penal Law.

Permission to photocopy is dependent upon physical condition of items and copyright laws.

SIBL Staff and security officers may request customers to show appropriate documents for identification purposes as necessary.

Persons leaving SIBL are required to submit all bags, backpacks, briefcases, and oversized handbags for inspection.

Only circulating materials may be removed from the building when charged out in accordance with SIBL procedures.

SIBL is not responsible for personal property.
