The circulating dance collection consists of an extensive array of books which illuminate all aspects of theatrical and non-theatrical forms of dance. The collection is especially strong in dance history, dance instruction, and biographies of leading dance figures. The collection is further enhanced by select periodicals and commercial DVDs. The dance circulating collection also has standard reference books such as encyclopedias and dictionaries on dance and related subjects to aid the researcher in the field.

The collection contains materials on:

  • All forms of dance.
  • Related fields: anatomy, kinesiology, physiology, exercise, mime, the aesthetics of movement, dance design (costumes, scenery, and lighting), rites and ceremonies in which dance is an element.
  • Dance-related sports and movement activities, including yoga, Pilates and Alexander Technique. As well as resources on figure skating, gymnastics, synchronized swimming, and martial arts.

To browse the collection in person, here is a guide to the arrangement of the books based on the Dewey Decimal system.
