You've probably checked out hundreds of library books over the years. Today, The New York Public Library needs your help adding more books to our shelves.

Every dollar donated to the Friends Book Fund Campaign will go toward purchasing and processing new circulating materials.

This fall, we are counting on a big response from our Friends. Our acquisition target of 6,000 books makes this our biggest book drive — ever.

Adding new books is expensive and we currently face some challenges.
  • The slow economic recovery and subsequent budget reductions are taking their toll — our budget for buying books is down by 26%.
  • This fall, more New York City public schools will be connected with the Library’s catalog massively expanding student access to learning materials. This is great news but it will put extra pressure on our collection.

Will you help us meet this urgent need and donate today?

Thank you for bringing new books and ideas to New Yorkers, young and old.
