Build, code, and investigate with NYPL’s amazing STEAM Discovery Kits! Available to borrow from Bloomingdale Library and select other branches across the Bronx, Manhattan, and Staten Island, these kits enable kids and tweens to explore robotics, circuitry, microbiology, engineering, coding, and more using exciting tools, toys, and books at home.

NYPL After School
Join us for NYPL After School, our free drop-in program for kids ages 6–12 that takes place after regular school hours, Monday to Thursday, when school is in session. Get homework help from one of our tutors or Teen Reading Ambassadors, plus reading recommendations, fun activities, and even snacks!

Bloomingdale Neighborhood History Group
The Bloomingdale Neighborhood History Group has reinstalled its reference collection in the Bloomingdale branch. It is much improved and easy to find near the circulation desk, and you are welcome to browse or use it for research! In addition to extensive files on neighborhood history (Upper West Side to Harlem), cataloged by subject, there is now also a small collection of books on NYC history (also for reference only) donated by NYC historian Peter Salwen.

About the Library

The Bloomingdale Library is bright, spacious, wheelchair accessible, and houses a general reference collection and borrowing collections for adults and teenagers on the ground floor. The children's collection shares the second floor with an auditorium used for library programs and community meetings.
