There are approximately 250 businesses in this one square mile In-Place Industrial Park [IPIP] zoned for light manufacturing. These businesses include food processors, wholesale distributors of goods, fabricated metals, and electric and electronic equipment. The IPIP offers area maintenance and upgrades, free security surveys, and referrals.

Partnerships and individuals/sole proprietorships doing business under a name other than their own need a Doing Business As (DBA) Business Certificate. File a Business Certificate form with the Count Clerk's Office in the borough where your business is located.

LaGuardia Community College APEX Accelerators (LaGuardia APEX), formally known as Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC), asssists businesses in Queens and beyond market their goods and services to Federal, State and local governments.

LaGuardia APEX offers procurement technical assistance and training workshops to meet the needs of any sized business, including minority owned small business (MBE), disadvantaged owned business enterprise (DBE), service-disabled veteran owned small business/veteran owned small business (SDVOSB/VOSB), and women owned small businesses (WOSB).

The Local Development Corporation of East New York [LDCENY] serves industrial and commercial businesses in the East New York and Brownsville communities. It manages the East Brooklyn Industrial Business Improvement District.  We empower low-to-moderate income women and minorities with programs that promote economic sufficiency, build assets and improve their lives and those of their families.  We work with local businesses to retain and build industry and commerce, create jobs and improve economic opportunities for local residents and neighborhood enterprise. Other programs under its management are the the New York State Empire Zones Program, which offers financial incentives to encourage businesses to invest, expand and create more jobs in the EZ, and the Women's Business Center. Services are available in Spanish and English.

 

Long Island City Partnership (LICP) is the neighborhood development organization for LIC. Our mission is to advocate for economic development that benefits the area’s industrial, commercial, science and technology, cultural, tourism, and residential sectors. The goal is to attract new businesses to LIC, retain those already here, engage residents and visitors, and promote a vibrant and authentic mixed-use community. LICP also operates the LIC Business Improvement District and LIC Industrial Business Zone (LIC IBZ), providing business services and assistance.

Services to businesses in the community include: hosting networking, educational, and community events; maintenance of capital improvements, daily sanitation, visitor attractions, and retail attraction; plus many more.

Lower East Side People’s Federal Credit Union is a non-profit financial cooperative that was organized in 1986 that promotes economic justice and opportunity in NYC neighborhoods. We are owned by our members and dedicated to providing high-quality financial services and community development investments in low-income, immigrant,  and other underserved communities.

Financial services include accounts for individuals, businesses, loans, money markets, and many more.

The Manhattan Chamber of Commerce is a community of businesses -- including startups, long-time neighborhood stores, mid-market firms and large companies -- that help one another succeed.

The Chamber has two 501(c)3 nonprofit arms: Our foundation allows them to provide resources, education and other programming to the business community. The Chamber's community benefit fund allows them to support the good work of charitable organizations focused on improving quality of life in Manhattan.

The New York County Clerk accepts for filing (in Room 109B, in the basement at 60 Centre Street) certificates of sole proprietorships, partnerships, and assumed names for businesses conducting business in New York County. The filing fee is $ 100 cash, and certified copies are an additional $ 10 each. The County Clerk will accept only cash, or Visa, MasterCard, or American Express for payment of the requested fee. No personal or company checks are accepted. The forms of certificate for sole proprietorship and partnership can be purchased at any commercial or legal stationery store, including the candy shop/newsstand in the lobby of the courthouse at 60 Centre Street. Searches of business names and records on file can be made in Room 117B in the basement at 60 Centre Street. If you wish to make a filing for corporate, limited partnership, limited liability partnership, and limited liability corporation status, you can do so only through the Secretary of State in Albany, New York.
