The Harlem Business Alliance (HBA), a 501(c)3 not-for-profit established in 1980, creates environments and opportunities that produce successful entrepreneurs and creates jobs for local residents. HBA is dedicated to enriching the local business community, with an emphasis on Black owned businesses through education, support and advocacy. We believe local businesses create better communities and we inspire Black entrepreneurs to grow their roots not just locally but globally.

Services include: microloans between $5K and $65K  to qualified Harlem entrepreneurs, workshops and infortmation services, one-on-one technical assistance, power networking events, and more. 

HEF is a United States Treasury-Certified Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) providing micro-financing to minority small business owners in Harlem, Washington Heights, Inwood, and the Bronx. We are committed to the success of women and minority small business owners and to serve low-income and minority populations by providing lending capital and technical assistance to facilitate small business expansion and job creation. We listen to what they need to provide access to capital, resources, and technical assistance.

We offer: HEF Small Business Loans and  HEF Credit Builder Loans. 

The Harlem U. S. Export Assistance Center [USEAC]- serving Upper Manhattan, the Bronx, Brooklyn, and Queens - is staffed with experienced, professional trade experts who can assist you in exporting your products/services by providing comprehensive counseling and advice, through timely and accurate intelligence regarding foreign markets, by identifying qualified international buyers and representatives, by advocating on your behalf, and by providing comprehensive solutions to whatever challenges that you may encounter.

The Hebrew Free Loan Society advances economic stability and opportunity for lower income New Yorkers within and beyond the Jewish community by making safe, affordable interest-free loans. The Small Business Loan Program provides interest-free loans of up to $50,000 to low- and moderate-income residents of New York City's five boroughs, Westchester, or Long Island to help launch or expand a business.

Primarily serving the Jewish Community, the Hebrew Free Loan Society (HFLS) fosters economic self-sufficiency and economic security among New Yorkers in need through interest-free lending. HFLS offers a number of targeted loan programs for training and business purposes, and also runs entrepreneurship/small business training courses:

Loan Programs

  • Microenterprise Loans help borrowers in New City's ultra-Orthodox community establish or expand small businesses as a path to economic security.
  • Immigrant Retraining and Vocational Loans help immigrants from the former Soviet Union and re-enter the middle class by providing them with funds to pay for high-quality vocational or degree programs to retrain for professional jobs.
  • Orthodox Retraining and Vocational Loans offer borrowers in New York City's ultra-Orthodox community funds to attend high-quality vocational or degree courses to retrain for professional jobs.

​Training Programs

  • Basic Business Training courses provide ultra-Orthodox men and women with the skills required to successfully launch and run a small business.
  • Encore Entrepreneurs, a basic business training course using the Kauffman Foundation's fastTrac NewVentrue Entrepreneurship Program, is designed for former professionals and managers age 50+ who are unemployed or underemployed. Support for this program is provided by UJA-Federation of New York. 

​Services are available in English, Russian, Hebrew, and Yiddish.

Hot Bread Kitchen’s mission is to create economic opportunity for women and gender-expansive people, immigrants, and people of color through job skills training, food entrepreneurship programs, and an ecosystem of support in New York City.

Programs include: 

  • Food Career Programs, which  provide the technical and professional skills needed for employment in this vibrant sector.
  • Culinary training programs include training for the NYC Food Protection Exam, which earns the Food Protection Certification, a valuable, lifelong credential and significant advantage in the food industry job market.
  • HBK INCUBATES: SEED,  a self-paced, five-part modular program for aspiring food entrepreneurs who want to lay a strong foundation for their business idea.

IMPACCT Brooklyn, also known as the Pratt Area Community Council, is a community development corporation committed to helping residents build and sustain flourishing communities. IMPACCT's focus is on economic development, affordable housing, and community organizing.

Employees at IRS Taxpayer Assistance Centers (TACs) can review your original documents and certified copies from the issuing agencies required to apply and renew for Individual Taxpayer Identification Numbers (ITINs). Primary and secondary applicants and their dependents can have their documents reviewed and verified. Your documents will be returned to you at the end of your appointment.

ITAC provides training and implementation expertise on a variety of topics that make companies  more competitive. They work with small and mid-size manufacturers throughout the five boroughs, and help them expand into new markets, create innovative products, develop their customer base, find new partners, improve their processes and develop sustainable practices. We are the NYC Chapter of the Manufacturing Extenson Partnership nationwide network.

ITAC's Technology Practice assists with product development and launch, finding additional funding, business plan development, and enabling partnerships with academic institutions. ITAC's Virtual Incubator Program (VIP) helps early stage manufacturers and technology firms to bring their products and processes to the next level. We also assist mature manufacturing firms to adopt technologis for their businesses, both off the shelf applications and new applications developed from existing technology.
