The National Association of Women Business Owners is the voice of more than 10 million women-owned businesses in the United States. Since 1975, NAWBO has helped women grow their businesses by sharing resources and providing a collective viewpoint to help shape economic and public policy. It is the only dues-based national organization representing the interests of all women entrepreneurs across all industries.

NEXCO is an international trade association that sponsors monthly seminars and webinars that provide information to importers, exporters, freight forwarders, bankers, attorneys, accountants, and other professionals engaged in global trade. NEXCO members have interests in insurance, international banking, freight forwarding, trade law, customs brokerage, trade software and e-commerce. They are large and small, American, foreign and multinational.

NMBC is a networking and referral organization for small women- and minority-owned businesses. It is dedicated to providing business assistance, educational opportunities, seminars, purchasing exchanges, mentoring, business listings, and related services to businesses throughout the tri-sate area and across the nation. Members are listed in a directory that is sent to corporate and government purchasing agents. The Neighborhood Entrepreneur Law Project (NELP) of the City Bar Justice Center provides low- to moderate-income micro-entrepreneurs with the legal services necessary to start their businesses on sound legal footing.

NELP’s volunteer attorneys guide clients through such matters as incorporation and tax issues, contracts and agreements, commercial lease negotiations, copyrights, trademarks, and patents. Volunteer attorneys also offer presentations and legal clinics at community-based organizations on issues of concern to micro-entrepreneurs.

The New York & New Jersey Minority Supplier Development Council (The Council) links certified minority suppliers with corporations through a database of these suppliers and events to showcase their products and services. It also offers seminars for minority-owned firms on marketing, management and other business issues and, for financing needs, refers them to the Business Consortium Fund. The initial certification rate is $400.00. The annual renewal, upon completion of certification, is $175.00. Application, payment of fee, and site visit are required prior to certification. Council-certified suppliers of the local Council are included in the National Minority Supplier Development Council Database.

The Building Congress provides a unique forum to advance an industry-wide agenda focusing on economic and infrastructure investment, job creation, and professional exchange. These goals require the dedicated involvement and cooperation of the contractors, architects, engineers, unions, real estate managers, developers, and owners who comprise the building community.

On behalf of constituent organizations comprising skilled tradespeople and professionals, the Building Congress supports sound public policy, promotes productive capital spending, encourages public/private partnerships, and evaluates the implementation of major government projects.

To foster relationships and cooperation, the Building Congress sponsors consensus-building activities and encourages a free exchange of ideas among leaders of industry associations, businesses, and the public sector.

New York City Economic Development Corporation's (NYCEDC) NYC Capital Access Loan Guaranty Program (Cap Access) provides up to 40 percent guarantee on loans for qualified New York City micro and small businesses having trouble accessing loans. Loans created through this program can be used for working capital, tenant improvements, equipment purchases, and refinancing of exisiting loans. For this program, micro-businesses are business that have 20 employees or less. Small businesses are defined as having between 21 and 100 employees.

NYC Business Solutions has partnered with NYCEDC to provide FREE Capital Access advisory services to small businesses interested in applying for Capital Access loans. A full list of lenders, their contact information , and the amount of money they are eligible to lend is available at the NYC Capital Access homepage.

Please note: NYCEDC does not directly lend money to businesses. NYCEDC oversees the loan providers for this program. Interest raes are negotiated between the borrower and the lender.

This program provides abatements for property taxes for periods of up to 25 years. To be eligible, industrial and commercial buildings must be built, modernized, expanded, or otherwise physically improved. ICAP replaced the Industrial Commercial Exemption Program (ICIP) which ended in 2008. Previously approved ICIP benefits were not affected.
