The Business Outreach Center (BOC) Network is a micro-enterprise/small business development organization with over a decade-long record of delivering customized business services to under-served entrepreneurs in New York City and, more recently, in Newark,NJ as well as capacity-building services to organizations establishing and operating community and micro-enterprise development programs.

 BOC business counselors provide one-on-one needs assessment, business planning, marketing and management guidance, as well as access to resources through the BOC Network’s extensive linkages with the full spectrum of public and private business assistance sources.

 

The new BXL Business Incubator (BXL) is the first state-of-the-art incubator and co-working space in the Hunts Point neighborhood of the South Bronx. From developing a business plan and building a strong online presence, to structuring a business, BXL’s in-house counselors and resources are here to help.

Members of BXL have access to a wide range of business services, tailored to the needs of busy entrepreneurs.

BXL members have access to 24/7 work space, digital connectivity, office technology, conference roomsin-house business, legal and tech support – and a diverse community of entrepreneurs – all on a flexible, month-to-month basis.

Operated by BOC Development Inc., in partnership with NYCEDC, BXL provides modern shared office facilities and end-to-end support,  to help launch and grow successful new businesses.

 

Our Childcare Business Development Project helps home-based childcare providers develop and enhance their businesses. Now, needed services and support in achieving economic self- sufficiency are available to childcare providers through this special project, including: Individualized start-up and operations assistance, Practical business training, Business and marketing planning, Free legal assistance if qualified, Free tax assistance, Access to grants and loans, Networking opportunities.

Under the Business Outreach Center Network (BOC), the Women’s Business Center is a collection of resources with a focus on women, aspiring entrepreneurs and current business owners in the greater New York City area.

With locations in the Bronx, Brooklyn, and Staten Island, the Women’s Business Center strives to provide accessible and equitable opportunities to individuals in New York looking to carve out their own industry spaces. At each resource center, our trained business and professional development counselors offer guidance on a variety of topics from finance and lending to legal advice.

The SBA's Bronx Women's Business Resource Center provides individualized, comprehensive guidance to small business owners and future entrepreneurs. WBRC offers one-on-one technical assistance, business workshops, access to capital, computer training, and long-term entrepreneurial training. WBRC is also part of the Business Outreach Center Network and is one of the Entrepreneurial Assistance Program Center (EAP) in New York State. The EAP consists of 60 hours of intensive entrepreneurship training and over 15 hours of hands-on counseling. Services are offered in English, Spanish, and Portuguese. 

The Brooklyn (Kings County) Hispanic Chamber of Commerce helps foster Brooklyn small business success by helping to process loans, assisting with Minority- and Women-Owned Business Enterprise (MWBE) certification, hosting educational/networking seminars and by assisting aspiring entrepreneurs in getting started by providing extensive and thorough education to those who wish to become small business owners.

 

New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC) announced a $50 million investment in life sciences at BioBAT to expand their lab space as part of the city’s LifeSci NYC initiative. NYCEDC and BioBAT officials toured the space that will receive funding to build new labs at BioBAT located at the Brooklyn Army Terminal.

BioBAT works to support the advancement of the life science industry in New York City by providing facilities and resources for scientific research and advanced manufacturing at the Brooklyn Army Terminal. BioBAT is helping New York City to attract and retain promising research firms and develop a skilled 21st Century workforce. BioBAT is a partnership created by the Research Foundation for SUNY, on behalf of Downstate Health Sciences University, and the New York City Economic Development Corporation.

 

 

This Office offers statistical information about business activity in the borough. It also provides assistance to businesses for location planning. It also assists businesses in dealing with government agencies, and accessing city, state, and federal financial incentive programs. Referrals to appropriate agencies are provided. The Brooklyn Business Center [BBC] is part of the Bedford Stuyvesant Restoration Corporation (BSRC). The BBC’s services include individual coaching and counseling, access to capital, application for MWBE certification, free legal services, business plan development and implementation, workshops and seminars.

The BBC assists with locating third party resources such as pro bono legal services. The BBC is funded in part by the New York State Entrepreneurial Assistance program and is an Entrepreneurial Assistance Center.

As Brooklyn continues to evolve, the Brooklyn Chamber, a membership-based organization, consistently works to offer top-quality services and new opportunities for its members. It advances the borough through outstanding promotion, support and advocacy as Brooklyn’s leading economic development organization.
