ASL Interpretation and CART Captioning
ASL (American Sign Languange) Interpretation
Interpretation into ASL can be arranged for Library classes and programs. You can contact the library hosting the program to request this accommodation, or call 212.930.0615, or email accessibility@nypl.org. Please make these requests at least two weeks ahead, if possible, to allow for securing an interpreter. We understand sometimes there are circumstances beyond your control, but please let us know of any cancellations 2 full business days before the program date.
CART (Communication Access Real-time Translation) Captioning
You may request real-time captioning (also known as CART) for Library programs. A CART provider types all the words that are spoken, and either projects them at the front of the room or transmits them to devices for access by audience members who want them. To request CART captioning, please contact the hosting library, or call 212.930.0615, or email accessibility@nypl.org. If possible, please provide two weeks notice to allow for arranging for CART. We understand sometimes there are circumstances beyond your control, but please let us know of any cancellations 2 full business days before the program date.
