November 30, 2016

The New York Public Library is updating its Privacy Policy, and we want to make sure that all of our users are aware of the changes and what they mean.

What is The New York Public Library's Privacy Policy?

Our Privacy Policy is a document that shapes what information we collect from our users and explains why we collect that information. The policy also protects our users, increasing trust and transparency between the Library and the community we serve. We encourage you to read the full text of the NYPL Privacy Policy so that you understand what data we collect and how we use it.

How has the Privacy Policy changed?

We made changes to improve clarity and transparency about our privacy practices. The new Privacy Policy is easier to read, and is organized to help users better understand what information we collect and how we use it to provide library services, how we promote services to users and potential users, when we share information, and how to opt in and opt out of providing such information.

Future updates and changes to the policy will be made via notices on our website and/or by email.

When will the new Privacy Policy take effect?

The new policy is effective on November 30, 2016.
