National Film Registry Series: Peter Bogdanovich's 'The Last Picture Show' (1971)
Location
The daily shuffles of three futureless teens, enigmatic Sonny, Duane, and desperate-to-be-adored rich girl Jacy, and the aging lost souls who bump up against them in the night like drifting tumbleweeds. (126 minutes)
The Last Picture Show burrowed into the motional trap of community and family life in an era of youthful dissent and disengagement.
—Armond White, Literature/Film Quarterly
