Culture Pass: Culture Pass: Going Dark: The Contemporary Figure at the Edge of Visibility (Teens)
Location
Join Mott Haven Library and Guggenheim museum educators to discuss social justice. Participants will share ideas and make collaborative collages to think about the power of youth organizing and social justice with two Guggenheim educators, with inspiration from the exhibition "Going Dark: The Contemporary Figure at the Edge of Visibility" which "presents works of art that feature partially obscured or hidden figures, thus positioning them at the “edge of visibility.” In this art context, the common phrase going dark is understood as a tactic whereby artists visually conceal the body to explore a key tension in contemporary society: the desire to be seen and the desire to be hidden from sight." This program will be facilitated in English and Spanish.
Adolescentes y adultos jovenes participarán en un intercambio de ideas y harán collages colaborativos para reflexionar sobre el poder de la organización juvenil y la justicia social con dos educadores del Guggenheim. Este programa se impartirá en inglés y español.
This is a bilingual program in English and Spanish. Éste es un programa bilingüe en español e inglés.
This event will take place in person.
