Explore your artistic potential with Creative Aging, a series of art workshops for adults 50 and older.
 

This program will be held in person at Allerton Library . Join us for Bronx Fantastic!  Teaching Artist Ivan teaches a 6 sessions of a drawing program series. 

Join Award Winning Artist, Ivan Velez Jr.  as he teaches you artmaking techniques in Bronx Fantastic 2023! This series of drawing workshops will use live models, each week focusing on a different style of drawing (i.e. charcoal, pencil, manga style, etc.).

Teaching artist Ivan Velez will guide participants through mixed media artmaking over 6 weeks of sessions.

Materials will be provided for this program. 

Attendance at all sessions is recommended. Space is limited | Supplies are available on a first come, first serve basis.  Registration is recommended.  Register above with your email address. Walkups will be permitted as space accommodates.

This series will consist of 6 sessions, 90 minutes each. 

Dates: 11/7, 11/21, 11/28, 12/5, 12/12, and 12/19. 
Hours: 2 PM -3:30 PM

Artist Ivan Velez Jr

 Artist Ivan Velez Jr. Ivan Velez Jr. is a Latino American cartoonist, writer, educator, and teaching artist known for the creation of the groundbreaking comic book series Tales of the Closet, and for his pioneering work with Milestone Media, Marvel, and DC Comics. He’s currently an independent cartoonist, and a teaching artist in New York and forever toils on his Creative Capital Award winning comics project The Ballad of Wham Kabam.

Creative Aging is a series of free art classes for adults 50 and older. This year, in person programs are available from branches throughout the Bronx, Manhattan, and Staten Island.  Come discover a new art medium or deepen your skills in a practice you’ve explored before! Visit nypl.org/creativeaging for a full list of programs.
