This event will take place in person at The Library for the Performing Arts.

Drag Story Hour has, since 2015, produced educational programs for children which encourage literacy and celebrate gender diversity and difference to build empathy and give kids the confidence to express themselves however they feel comfortable. However, these programs have recently been the target of protests.

Join us for an exploration of freedom of expression, identity oppression and the underpinnings of drag culture through a screening of the documentary feature Paris is Burning (1990) in 16mm followed by a discussion with a member of the New York City chapter of Drag Story Hour.

While tickets to all events at the Library for the Performing Arts are free, seating is granted on a first come first serve basis. Five minutes before showtime, seats will be given out to people on the wait list regardless of reservation status.

The Library encourages mask wearing in all public spaces.
