Collection Open House, Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month: De colores: Latinx and Hispanic Presence in Library Collections
Join the Library this Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month in honoring the cultures and contributions of people with ancestors from Latin America and Spain. From September 15 to October 15—and all year round—celebrate Latinx and Hispanic literature, experience, and storytelling with multilingual programs, resources, storytimes for kids, and more! Plus, explore recommended reading for all ages, featuring monolingual and bilingual titles.
This Open House will display Library holdings that document the vast diversity and richness of Latinx and Hispanic cultures throughout the Spanish-speaking world and beyond.
The New York Public Library has a wide array of resources in English, Spanish, Portuguese, French Creole, and some indigenous languages that range from Latin American incunabula (the earliest books printed in the Americas), maps, prints, and photographs, to contemporary literature, history, comic books, zines, as well as scholarly studies by thousands of Latinx, Hispanic, and Latin American authors worldwide in print and electronic formats.
