Laurie Anderson, one of America’s most renowned creative pioneers, speaks with preeminent Icelandic poet and novelist, Sjón, about his latest novel, CoDex 1962, and their respective interdisciplinary approaches to producing new work. Known primarily for her multimedia presentations, Anderson has cast herself in roles as varied as visual artist, composer, poet, photographer, filmmaker, electronics whiz, vocalist, and instrumentalist. Sjón’s writing has garnered awards such as Nordic Council Literary Prize and ‘Best Icelandic Novel’; he is also the president of the Icelandic PEN Centre, has collaborated on lyrics with his countrywoman Björk, and performs as Johnny Triumph with the band The Sugarcubes.
