You buy them. You play them. Have you ever thought of creating one? Explore the world and concepts of game design with LEGO® bricks! You’ll even learn to "power up" your designs with LEGO® Power Functions. You have the experience. You have the creativity. All you need are the skills. Are you game? Each workshop is 90 minutes long.

Week 1: Minecraft and Game Mechanics- Unravel the game design concept of game mechanics and the inner workings that connect them together. Reflect on your own experiences as game players and use that knowledge in designing and collaborating on your own LEGO® based version of Minecraft. “Play-test” your games with options for adding moving parts using Power Function LEGO® sets.

Week 2: Characters In the World of Games- Explore and discuss the importance of characters! In the gaming world, player follows characters throughout the game, so it’s important to think about character development. What makes a character evolve or change? Use those ideas to design your own LEGO® characters!

Week 3: Building Game Worlds- Delve into the concept of game worlds. Does the setting and space of a game affect the way characters can move and how enjoyable the game is to play? Use your experience as a player to design and collaborate on your LEGO® based game world! Options for creating advanced game function are possible using Power Function LEGO® sets!

Week 4: Building a LEGO® Board Game- In the final installment of the gaming series, think about what goes into creating a board game. Reflecting on game design concepts you’ve been learning thus far, plan the themes, rules, strategies, and goals to create a board games out of  LEGO® bricks!

Workshop series is FREE.
