Event Details

Welcome to the seventh annual 90-Second Newbery Film Festival—a yearly video contest in which kid filmmakers create short movies that tell the stories of Newbery award-winning books in about 90 seconds.

A selection of the kid-made movies are screened annually in Chicago, San Francisco, Boston, and many other cities—including, for the seventh year in a row, The New York Public Library! Year after year, we receive movies that are hilarious, ingenious, and inspiring. Join us at The New York Public Library to see some of the best movies made by kids in New York and the around the country. The screening is hosted by children's authors James Kennedy, author of The Order of Odd-Fish, and Michael Northrop, the writer behind Polaris, Trapped, and the Tombquest series.

Tickets are free! However, we recommend reserving your seat in advance to ensure admittance. REGISTER NOW!

Interested in making your own 90-Second Newbery for next year? Great! You can find complete details, plus video resources, at the 90-Second Newbery website.

FIRST COME, FIRST SEATED
For free events, we generally overbook to ensure a full house. Priority will be given to those who have registered in advance, but registration does not guarantee admission. All registered seats are released 15 minutes before start time, and seats may become available at that time. A standby line will form one hour before the program.

KidsLIVE programs are sponsored by the Andreas C. Dracopoulos Family Endowment for Young Audiences.

The 90-Second Newbery Film Festival is under the fiscal sponsorship of Fractured Atlas 501(c)(3).
