Annuities come in many forms—which include fixed, variable and fixed-indexed varieties.  Annuities are widely sold financial products, but they are often misunderstood.  Peter Chandler provides an overview of annuities including key characteristics of each type of annuity and some pros and cons of the various annuity products on the market today.   Also learn about the major findings from the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority’s (FINRA) 2015 National Financial Capability Study, recently released by the FINRA Investor Education Foundation.              

Peter Chandler is the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority’s (FINRA)  Director of Investor Education. He is responsible for developing investor education campaigns, tools and resources, including writing many of FINRA’s Investor Alerts and other publications that have national circulation.  He also works closely with other regulatory organizations, investor groups and partners to promote responsible saving and investing.   Pete joined FINRA’s predecessor organization, the National Association of Securities Dealers in 1989 and has also held positions with The NASDAQ Stock Market, where he was NASDAQ’s Director of University and Investor Programs. Mr. Chandler has a BA in English and Philosophy from the University of Wisconsin, Madison and a Masters in Marketing from The Johns Hopkins University .
