Enjoy this exclusive opportunity to examine the beautiful and historic costume and set designs for this well-loved opera by exceptional artists, such as Maurice Sendak and Julie Taymor, before it opens to the general public.

Magical Designs for Mozart’s Magic Flute is a unique comparative exhibition of outstanding designs for Mozart’s sublime opera on loan from leading European and American opera collections. The beautiful and historic designs are accompanied by splendid costumes, set pieces, models and colorful animals as well as printed music illustrations from the late 17th and 18th centuries selected from The New York Public Library for the Performing Art’s
peerless collections.
 

Guided tours of the exhibition will be offered at 11:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.  Please present your membership ID card or invitation, which admits four people.

The “Magic Flute” exhibition is organized by the Kent State University Museum in partnership with The Library for the Performing Arts and curated by acclaimed theater designer Judy Levin.
