Summer Reading Series with poets Brenda Coultas, Geffrey Davis, and Brian Teare

Join the New York Public Library and Academy of American Poets for an evening with Brenda Coultas, Geffrey Davis and Brian Teare. Poets will read poems from NYPL's Henry W. and Alfred A. Berg Collection of English and American Literature, as well as their own work.  

Brenda Coultas is the author of four poetry collections, including The Tatters , The Marvelous Bones of Time  and A Handmade Museum.  Her honors include a New York Foundation for the Arts fellowship and residencies from the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council, the Emily Harvey Foundation in Venice, Italy, and the Millay Colony for the Arts. She teaches at Touro College and lives in New York City.

Brian Teare is the author of The Room Where I Was Born , which was awarded the Brittingham Prize and the 2004 Thom Gunn Award for Gay Poetry, Companion Grasses , Sight Map, and Pleasure .  He is the recipient  of a Stegner Fellowship at Stanford University and fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts, The MacDowell Colony, and the American Antiquarian Society. In 2008, Teare founded Albion Books, a micropress specializing in limited edition poetry chapbooks, broadsides and print ephemera.  Teare is an Assistant Professor at Temple University and lives in Philadelphia.

Geffrey Davis work has appeared in Crazyhorse, Hayden’s Ferry Review, The Massachusetts Review, Nimrod, Sycamore Review, and elsewhere. Revising the Storm, winner of the 2013 A. Poulin, Jr. Poetry Prize, is his first book of poetry. Davis has also received the 2014 Anne Halley Poetry Prize, the 2013 Wabash Prize for Poetry and Dogwood Prize in Poetry, as well as fellowships from the Cave Canem Foundation and Penn State’s Institute for the Arts and Humanities.  In fall 2014, he will join the MFA faculty at the University of Arkansas.
