The Inaugural Mary McConnell Bailey Lecture
Tom Reiss: The Black Count

Join Tom Reiss as he discusses his latest book, The Black Count: Glory, Revolution, Betrayal, and the Real Count of Monte Cristo.  This compelling biography of General Thomas-Alexandre Dumas (1762-1806) challenges preconceived notions of race and slavery in the colonial world, while painting a portrait of the figure who inspired the works of his famous son.
