ReelAbilities 2013: The Importance of Tying Your Own Shoes, with discussion afterwards led by producer Peter Kropenin.

As part of the ReelAbilities 2013 Film Festival, we are pleased to present:

The Importance of Tying your Own Shoes, dir. by Lena Koppel (Sweden, 2011, 100min, Narrative).

When Alex finally gets a job - as the leader of a local theater group for people with disabilities, his outlook on life begins to change. Through the theater group’s work, Alex comes to appreciate that every person has his or own talents, which can grow if given the opportunity and support.

The screening will be followed by a discussion led by the producer of the film, Peter Kropenin.

Mr. Kropenin began his career as a sound engineer for an illegal radio station onboard a ship sailing the Baltic Sea. Since 1972 he has worked on more than 40 feature films, and many prizewinning short films and documentaries. He has worked with Ingmar Bergman and in close cooperation with most of the larger Swedish and Nordic production companies, distributors and Filminstitutes. Since 1989 Mr. Kropenin has mostly been producing for his own company Omega Film & Television AB, now named Hob AB. Since 2008 he has also been CEO of Tur vädret AB, owned together with director Kjell Åke Andersson and scriptwriter Santiago Gil.
