Introduction to archival research

Event Details

Archival research has traditionally been a part of musicology and most fields involved with historical study.  But how do researchers learn how to use archival collections if they have not previously had experience with them?  How does one explore and examine an archival collection? What kinds of information can be learned from them?

This session will introduce attendees to using archival collections by providing background and context for working with them.  By understanding how they were created, used, and how to use them, researchers can widen their knowledge by using archival collections as part of their research.
