On Chicago's south side, the five members of the Younger family are waiting for a $10,000 check, their dead father's life insurance money.  The majority of family members agreed that the matriarch of the family can use the money as she sees fit.  However, Walter Lee the oldest son sees the money as an opportunity to better the life for himself, his wife, and their ten-year-old son.
