Black History Month Youth Film Series:

Harriet Tubman, and The Journey of Henry Box Brown

Running Time: 30 minutes, 28 minutes (58 total), Suitable for: Grades 1-6

It’s Animated Classics Day! In Harriet Tubman, kids will get the chance to view Harriet’s bravery in her daring exploits and faith as helped her family and hundreds of other slaves escape the South and slavery through the Underground Railroad. The Journey of Henry Box Brown tells story of Henry’s escape to the free North by mailing himself to Philadelphia Abolitionists in a box, declaring his own freedom in the process.  This screening is part of a week-long series of films for young audiences that capture a diversity of voices on the African-American Experience.  All films are followed by a discussion by the filmmakers, scholars, or Schomburg educators.
