Get in the Halloween spirit with the perfect Russian film for October. Elem Klimov’s Agony tells the story of Russia’s famous “Mad Monk,” Grigori Rasputin, during the last year of Imperial Russia. Produced in the mid-1970s, the film was not released in Russia and the U.S. until 1985 due to its departure from the Soviet-sponsored version of events surrounding Rasputin, the Bolsheviks, and Tsar Nikolai II. In Russian with English subtitles. 151 minutes.
