Music @NYPL presents Music From China

October 13, 2012
For all ages

Music performance will be presenting the art of Erhu music. Erhu master musician Wang Guowei conducts a lecture and performance by students on the art of erhu music. Erhu belongs to the family of 2-string fiddles, mostly with snakeskin resonator, which forms the basis of the traditional Chinese orchestra. Its expressive powers and voice-like timbre reflect the distinct colors and musical characteristics that identify regional styles in Chinese folk music. Students perform repertoire learned in master classes to demonstrate the fine nuances and performance techniques that give expression to a piece of music.
