Wikipedia! The Musical!

Event Details

As part of Wikipedia Loves Libraries events happening across the country in October, The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts will host an editathon for Wikipedians and researchers in the performing arts community. Come and help us improve documentation and access to performing arts information on everyone's favorite free online encyclopedia!

The event will take place in the third floor reading room and adjacent classroom space, stay for the entire afternoon or drop in at any time between 12pm and 6pm. Bring your own laptop. NYPL librarians and curators will be on hand to provide information and instruction on using our research collections. Volunteer Wikipedians will be present to provide support and instruction on editing Wikipedia. Advanced wiki editing skills not required; passion for performing arts and musical theatre highly recommended!

The emphasis will be on improving content related to musicals and music theatre though volunteers may work on whatever they choose. If you are interested in viewing LPA materials stored offsite on this day, be sure to enter your request no later than Wednesday October 19. If you don't have a library card, start the application process online and pick up your card on Saturday.

RSVP is suggested but not required. Sign up here or add your name to the wiki project page.

This event is jointly organized by the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts, NYPL Reference and Research Services, and NYPL Labs.
