Many people avoid tough work conversations. Your boss doesn’t understand your contribution and judges you negatively. Your direct report missed a deadline. You need help from peers who have no time for your project. How can you approach people in a positive way that gets results, especially if you don’t have authority? Talking turkey may be what’s necessary to save a project, get scarce resources, or mend a misunderstanding. Nannette Rundle Carroll is author of the newly released book, The Communication Problem Solver (AMACOM Books). She has recently been featured in Investors Business Daily’s “10 Secrets to Success.”

Seating is limited. Seating is on a first come, first seated basis unless otherwise noted.
